National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Its headquarters is located at University Town Center in Hyattsville, Maryland, near Washington, D.C.
NCHS is the United States' principal health statistics agency. It designs, develops, and maintains a number of systems that produce data related to demographic and health concerns. These include data on registered births and deaths, the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the National Health Care Surveys, National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG), and the National Employer Health Insurance Survey (NEHIS) among others.
